Simple elegance

As the stars walked the red runway last night at the Oscars, they had their final chance of award show season to live up to their A-lister  style. While some of the leading ladies of today took a fearless take on their dress choices for the night, clinging to bold color and patterns, most left it to their personality and reputation to do the talking for them and acquired  elegance with simple, yet stunning, silhouettes.

Best supporting actress Oscar winner, Lupita Nyong’o, didn’t disappoint at the 86th Academy Awards in a pale blue Prada goddess gown, a dress she helped design herself. To top off the look, she wore a Fred Leighton sparkly-gold-and-diamond headband to accent the soft color of her dress.

redcarpet_refinary29Jennifer Lawrence took a take on her girl on fire roll in a beautiful gown by Dior. Her neck was iced in a $2 million, 100 carat diamond necklace from Neil Lane to add a sparkling touch to her already flawless glow. Although she tripped, yet again, her giggles subsided the second annual incident and she cleared it up with how graceful and elegant she looked overall. At least it wasn’t on her way up the stairs to receive an Oscar again.

Sandra Bullock rocked the dark side of the simplistic look in Alexander McQueen, classic Hollywood-style stunner in line with a lot of other blues, some green and not as much red as usually seen on the carpet in years past. This navy draped gown definitely caught the attention it sought out for and Bullock worked it to its upmost potential.
