Remember how much you loved Moonrise Kingdom in 2012? Well get excited because Wes Anderson, the writer, director, and producer of the hit film has a new movie coming out – The Grand Budapest Hotel.
The film isn’t out yet – it’s set to debut in 1,000 theaters in the next five weeks – but it’s lined up to be a big success. It’s got a stellar cast including Ralph Fiennes, F. Murray Abraham, Jude Law, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson.
Ralph Fiennes plays Gustave, the loyal concierge at the hotel. He befriends Zero Moustafa (Tony Revolori), a lobby boy at the Grand Budapest. Gustave, when not attending to clients at the hotel, is courting the older women that stay there. One of his lovers is found dead mere days after spending the night with Gustave. Her family is up in arms when she left a famous Renaissance painting to the concierge in her will.
The Grand Budapest Hotel takes place between the first and second World War. It’s a period of rapid change in the European political climate. Moviegoers witness the dramatic shifts in culture through the eyes of the hotel staff.
This film, like anything Wes Anderson touches, promises to be quirky, strikingly funny, and pay great attention to detail. Make sure to see it when it comes to a theater near you, I know I sure will.
