Whether you’re a comedy, horror, drama, or romance fanatic, some really great movies have been hitting the cinemas lately. I’ve always preferred a story that I can read before seeing it on the big screen. With the long-awaited break in the weather, sitting on my porch with a good book is exactly what I need. Here’s what I’ll be reading as I wait for their movie counterpart to arrive in theaters:
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Grab some tissues because this is no light hearted love story. I’m really excited to see the movie this June starring Shailene Woodley. I can’t get enough of John Green so his book, An Abundance of Katherines, is on my must-read list. Still can’t get enough? You can also check him out on his youtube channel vlogbrothers.
Heaven Is For Real by Todd Burpo. I caught the preview for this film while I was seeing Noah this past weekend and after the 2-minute clip I had tears welling in my eyes. As soon as it said “based on a New York Times Bestseller”, I had to do more research. This is the true story of a little boy who had a near-death experience and what he saw through that time. I can’t wait to pick this book up and see the movie on April 16.
The Giver by Lois Lowry. Many of you, like me, probably read this for class in middle school. I know I’ll have to refresh myself on the details but the captivating trailer for this movie has really motivated me to do so. Let’s not forget about it’s star-studded cast including Katie Holmes, Taylor Swift, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, and Jeff Bridges. The Giver comes to theaters August 15th.
