Can(nes) you dig it?

One of the most star-studded events of the year is the Festival de Cannes, or known amongst Americans as the Annual Cannes Film Festival held in Cannes, France.

The international gathering for the 2014 celebration for the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival lasted from May 14th to the 25th and featured some of the worlds most interesting and successful contributors to the film industry.

The Cannes Film Festival is not only one of the most prestigious events to honor film film (and it’s devoted workers) since the early 20th century, but has become a source for it’s househould-name attendees to strut their stuff and show off their fashion flair on and off the red carpet steps.

In honor of the Cannes Film Festival, we will be noting some of this years best looks.

Actress Freida Pinto looked as if she could fly away any second in her Michael Kors dress. With feathers layered at the bottom of her dress, she was able to add detail to the gown without going overboard and looking like Big Bird.

Following a day after this look, Pinto looked nothing short of royalty in this exquisite and bright Oscar de la Renta gown as she attended “The Homesman” premiere. Which brings us to our next question: does this girl ever look bad?

Jessica Chastain looked simply elegant in her Atelier Versace gown. Chastain wore matching blue pumps with this dress, and while we found it a bit monochromatic, we adore the red lip and simple jewelry she chose to pair with it.

As if we need another reason to adore Blake Lively, she wore not one, nor two, but three different drop-dead gorgeous gowns during the festival. Blake welcomed the Cannes Film Festival with one of her first knock-out red carpet looks: this burgundy Gucci gown accompanied with a braid that sat on her crown.

Here, she is pictured with her husband Ryan Reynolds as they attend “Captives”. Both in black and white, this pair brought class and elegance early on to Cannes’ red carpet. In this image, Blake dons Gucci for the second time.

But before her and her newlywed spouse could grace the red carpet, Blake faced it alone earlier that week in a Chanel gown. Etheral and mermaid-like, Lively looked as if she had risen from the sea with this pearly colored dress and hair voluminous with beach-like waves.

Always ready to take a red-carpet-risk, Cara Delevingne stood out amongst a sea of ball gowns. Sporting this Chanel Couture mini-dress, Cara looks chic, yet youthful and radiant.Image

It wasn’t only Cara who opted for a short frock, as Marion Cotillard was not afraid to neglect the ball-gown trend, as well. Paired with peep-toe leather booties, Cotillard sparkled in a dress from the Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2014 Couture collection.

Movie-star and fitness celebrity Jane Fonda was also in attendance this year seen below wearing this Elie Saab gown. We love this look on Jane as the fit and design of the dress are age-appropriate yet is also spiced up with the sheer paneling and beaded detailing.

Actor and avid heartbreaker Ryan Gosling even appeared in Cannes last week to promote the film “Lost River”. (Ok, I’ll be honest, this last one was just some eye candy.)

Whether these film stars floated down the red carpet in dreamy ball gowns or stood out in an edgy ensemble, it’s clear that Cannes is the place to debut one’s sense of style and experiment with elegance.
