Warm UP: winter’s must-have coat

Cold weather struck Oxford, which has turned Miami a into a swarm of parkas and shivering students. Where would we all be without our trusty parkas to keep us warm during our walks to class? However, I would never consider my parka stylish. Thankfully, the fashion world offers an alternative option: wrap coats.

Although wrap coats could never replace the warmth and comfort of our beloved parkas, they can still keep you warm while also making you look stylish. Wrap coats, especially pastel ones, elevate any winter outfit by making it look sophisticated and chic. They can flatter any body type, as well. This Salvatore Ferragamo coat, worn by Olivia Pope on ‘Scandal,’ caught my eye because the light pink adds a touch of color to a winter outfit comprised of dark clothes.

The bad news is that this coat costs over $1,000 and has sold out. But, on the bright side, you can find similar cute and cheaper styles from other stores! I love these Forever 21 options below because they’re much cheaper, but also because of the colors. The light colors of both coats contrast with the dark color palette associated with winter clothes and brighten up any outfit. I also like the second Forever 21 option because it’s longer, which adds more warmth to the coat! Both coats can be worn with or without the attached belt. This also allows you to tie the belt to fit you perfectly.

For more variety, stores like Nordstrom and Asos offer many different options, but they fall on the more expensive side. However, I definitely think that these coats are worth the splurge. They keep you warm and can add a pop of color or pattern to your winter outfits.  Also, for more dupes on Olivia Pope’s style, check out The Scandal Collection at The Limited.
