To have a happy New Year

The key to a successful and fun New Year’s Eve is to be where you want to be with the people you want to be withsounds simple right?  Year after year we amp up the idea of NYE and year after year we are disappointed we didn’t have as much fun as we anticipated, we didn’t kiss the guy we’d been eyeing all night, or we didn’t get to dance all night like we had planned.  So what are the best options for ringing in the new year and what do I wear?

1.  A house party with your closest friends, …and their closest friends.  So the party has more people than you expected?  Don’t let that get you down.  Now you can spend time with your besties and/or make some new friends!  No matter what, just do what you went their to do whether it was to hustle some guys at pool, dance the night away, or catch up with hometown friends over a glass bottle of wine.

What to wear:  Maybe your friends picked a dress code, but, if not, keep it simple and casual.  Options include jeans and a cute top and necklace combo or a comfy t-shirt, skater, or swing dress.

2.  A night at a swanky bar or NYE event.  You and your friends scored tickets to the all you can eat/all you can drink event downtown?  Nice!  Be sure to live it up and just have fun.  Don’t let the fear of being let down by NYE keep you from jumping out of your comfort zone and being the first girl on the dance floor.

What to wear:  It’s the one night out of the year you can do almost anything in the fashion department.  Been saving a dress for a special occasion, well, this is it! Have fun with plunging necklines, jacquard patterns, and a little shine.

3.  A night in with friends, movies, and bottle(s) of wine.  No DD and no desire to try your luck with the stereotypical NYE disappointments?  Why not stay in with your closest friends, a couple good movies, a few bottles of wine, and an assortment of hors d’oeuvres.  No FOMO here as long as you’re doing what you want to do!

What to wear:  Comfort is the word.  Lay back in your favorite leggings, warm slippers, and this amazing turtleneck sweater from Lou & Grey at LOFT.
