Living in Leather

By Vivian Drury

Even in the winter, I still love my sleeveless tops and dresses. They are an absolute must for nights Uptown when bars and restaurants are much warmer than outside. When it comes to covering up while still being trendy, the timeless leather jacket is a great way to go. Not only is the leather jacket versatile, they can be found on any budget.

The type and color of leather really helps determine what message you want your look to send. Stiff black leather sends off an edgy vibe, a pairing perfect with a bold lip and sleek outfit. Lightly colored leather, like light neutrals, is more of a relaxed, understated look without being modest. I love pairing brown leather with a denim or chambray top for a classy, yet stylish outfit.

Faux is fine! Leather can become very pricy, so there are plenty of smaller price tag options. This black leather jacket from ZARA is well made, making the price seem much higher than it truly is.

Leather jackets also add personality to any look, especially when they have fringe, zippers, or belts on them. This fringed leather jacket from Nordstrom Rack captures the fun yet functional side of leather, while being on sale too! Leather jackets in bold colors like gold definitely add a pop to any night on the town look.
