Adidas’ Functional Approach to Fashion

By: Maddie Wood

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably heard of a man named Kanye West.

Despite Yeezy’s highly anticipated album “The Life of Pablo”, absurd Twitter rants, and recent initiation into the Kardashian clan, West’s biggest claim to fame of the last year is arguably his highly coveted line of Yeezy Boosts, exclusively for Adidas.

Kanye’s endorsement, along with style superstars Stella McCartney, Rita Ora and Katy Perry who all have Adidas collaborations, has breathed life back into the athleisure brand.

While you can still get your typical workout clothes from Adidas, their Adidas Originals collection is what truly stands out. Filled with street wear essentials, this collection embodies the idea of urban cool.

Breezy rompers, colorful sweat suits, and cool graphic t-shirt dresses are just some of my favorites from the Originals collection.

Not to mention the accessibility. If you get the chance, I highly recommend browsing this collection in person at an Adidas store, but pieces from Originals are being sold at retail giants like Pac Sun and Urban Outfitters as well. Pieces can also be ordered online, where they often have great deals.

Scared to dive in to the trendy brand? Dip your toes in the water with a pair of Adidas Originals sneakers, favorites of model pals Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner.

In a world where fashion and function are more intertwined than ever, Adidas’ eclectic mix of sweats and swank is paving the way for a stylish 2016.
