Now, What Did We Learn?

By Tyler Aberle

What have we learned after Halloween in the great year of 2016? Well, for starters, extravagant costume make-up is a hit. I don’t know if my friends (and seemingly everyone on the internet) are secretly professional artists, but everywhere I looked and the pictures I scrolled through there were these elaborate face paintings that brought their costume to the next level. Whether it was a ghoulish skull or Harley Quinn and the Joker, the make up this year was stellar, and I personally am excited to see where it gets taken in the years coming.

Another thing we learned is that it’s completely okay- encouraged actually- to dress as your favorite drink. From pumpkin spice lattes to flipping water bottles, the costume is easy and perfect for the culture of today. If you happen to be holding a back flip in your arsenal of party tricks, you may have missed the ultimate costume. Don’t worry, though, this guy didn’t.

Okay, here is something that we haven’t learned that should be picked up ASAP. If you don’t have a costume, there are super simple solutions that can be taken into measure. Do you, or a friend, have a jersey that you can wear? Wear it. For guys, literally wear what you would wear any other Saturday. There are unlimited ways that you can spin a jersey or Hawaiian. Girls (who admittedly are a lot better at wearing a costume than guys but just in case), be a cat next year. Wear all black and put three simple dots on your cheeks. Boom. Now you have a costume. It may not be super original, but, nevertheless, it IS better than nothing.
