Two very important things are happening this week: the complete and utter travesty that has been the 2016 Presidential election is finally ending and, far more importantly, SNOOP DOGG AND MARTHA STEWART’S COOKING SHOW IS PREMIERING ON VH1.
On the surface, it may seem like my girl Martha and Snoop D-O-double-G have nothing in common (besides prison) – Martha has built an entire empire on her ability to throw a lit dinner party and live a perfect life, and well, everyone knows what Snoop does with his time. However, VH1 seems to think they are a match made in heaven, so they’ve decided to give this seemingly random duo their own show, “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party”. Punny right?!
Despite its name, the show won’t actually be a potluck—Stewart and Snoop will compete to see who can cook up the best dishes. The show, which premieres on November 7th, promises to be a “half-baked evening of cocktails, cooking, conversation and fun where nothing is off limits”. It will feature a variety of celebrity guest stars.
“It’s right for the time, I think. We do need a little bit of levity in our lives because of what’s going on,” Stewart told The New York Times about the show. By “what’s going on,” she of course meant the election and the sheer sense of terror inside every American’s heart. Snoop added, “This is a great expression of love, of us lovin’ what we do, and people seeing that we have a great chemistry together and portraying that onscreen, and eventually offscreen…when you do a show like this it becomes personal, it’s not just business, so you’re gonna see me and Martha do a whole lot of things together.”
This sounds freaking beautiful, and shoutout to whatever producer made this magic happen.
“Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party” premiered Monday, Nov. 7 at 10 p.m. on VH1.
