If you have been keeping up on all things going on in the celebrity world, you may have noticed that three major celebs have just made the major statement of dyeing their locks platinum blonde!! Katy Perry, Cara Delevingne, and Kristen Stewart have debuted their icy white ‘dos over the past few weeks, and let me just say, WOW!! The three of them look unbelievably fierce and I’m all for this trend.
Dying your hair platinum, of course, is not a new trend, as major stars like Madonna and Christina Aguilera have been rocking this look for years now. But, I have noticed more and more unconventional blondes have been starting to rock this statement look. Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, both notoriously known for their family’s beautiful dark locks, have been rocking this look from time to time (mostly with the help of wigs), as well as former well known brunette Miley Cyrus, who did the big bleach several years ago.
If you’re a big Cosmopolitan reader like me, their Beauty Director Carly Cardellino documented her whole journey of going platinum a little over a year ago and has yet to look back!!
If you want to join in on this trend, I must say you should take it with caution. If you are already pretty blonde and just want to go up a level or two to really reach that platinum look, then you should be good to go! However, if you have very dark hair, or have been dying it dark for a while now, it will definitely be a process getting it to the desired color.
When you bleach your hair, you are literally stripping all of the color out of it, leaving your hair very porous, weak and brittle. By bleaching it just a little bit over time, you are giving your hair the well deserved break it needs to rest and repair in between sessions. This will leave your hair in significantly better condition with much more integrity than you would by doing multiple bleaches over a very short amount of time.
I know it’s never fun having to wait to get your desired color, but trust me, from a girl that’s been there before, it is never fun having dry, damaged hair that’s constantly breaking off.
Overall, platinum hair is such a fun and edgy look that I’m sure will be in style for decades to come. If you’re looking for a fun way to switch up your hair, this may be the trend for you! Just always be sure to leave the bleaching up to a trained professional.
