One of my pet peeves is when I ask someone to take a photo of me, and they crop out my shoes. Okay, yes this is dramatic; however, when you’re rocking a killer head-to-toe outfit, you want the shoes to be in the photo. I am all about the full body shots. It is like saying, “Oh here’s your appetizer and entrée, but sorry no dessert.” If you ask me, that is a little rude.
See what I’m talking about? The outfit looks completely different with and without the shoes. Pro Tip: Next time someone goes in to take a photo of you and your posse, make sure you ask for full body and you’ll get all the goods.
This season it’s going to be hard to not include the shoes. Footwear trends are going crazy right now, and I absolutely love it. Staple fall pieces, like booties and slide-ons, have always been in trend, but designers are revitalizing the game a little this year, rather than the basic black and brown leather.
Fabrics like velvet, corduroy, and, yes, fur (surprise, surprise) are so hot this season. From high-end brands to affordable options, everyone is on board for this footwear trend. Here are the Top 5 Fall Footwear Styles to keep an eye out for:
1. Animal Print
Who doesn’t love a good snakeskin or leopard print bootie? We’ve seen people wearing animal print forever, and it’s finally getting down to our feet. If you feel like you need a subtle trendy splash to your outfit, try this muted snakeskin bootie from Free People!
2. Starry Glitter
Next on the list is my personal favorite. I love tasteful sequins and metallics; I think they’re so fun for when it’s snowy and cold outside. So when I started seeing booties with this pattern, I nearly died.
Similar to number 2, satin is for those who want to stand out but with an essential, versatile shoe. Satin comes in a variety of colors, ranging from black to pink to yellow. You can decide if you just want to add that little bit of sheen to your shoes or go wild with metallics.
Okay, another one of my favorites for this fall. Studs and buckles give off that bad girl, motorcycle feel, but are so versatile. You can pair them with a basic outfit like pictured below or a fashionable dress and jacket combo. The options are endless, and no matter what you pair with them you’ll always feel like a bad ass.
Velvet is once again, another classic staple for the Fall and Winter. Who doesn’t love cozying up in a soft, velvet sweater? Wearing velvet on your shoes is not as dangerous as it sounds. Most brands have come up with near-indestructible velvets that you can rock in any weather. Sunshine or snowstorm, you can count on velvet.
All it takes is one pair of reliable, funky shoes and you’ve got this look down! Whether you pair animal print booties with a black dress or with a bright block colored two-piece set, you can make it work! Just don’t be afraid to go bold!
