Netflix is awesome, right? I think almost everyone can agree. But, we’ve all been in that situation where you spend more time searching for something to watch, than actually watching something. And when you finally find something enjoyable to watch, you realize that you’ve wasted an hour of your time just scanning through titles. It can be super frustrating! Here are 5 remarkable, underrated shows to watch on Netflix.
1. If you’re looking for something dramatic:
Black Mirror is your go-to. This is a fictional series that takes you through the different scenarios that could happen if technology continues advancing. The show highlights various characters and situations in every episode. So, none of the episodes actually have the same story-line or cast, which can be hard to get used to at first. But that’s what makes it so entertaining. It’s hard to get sick of it when every episode is a different story. Each episode is sure to blow your mind.
2. If you’re looking for something funny:
Watch Portlandia. This series was written by Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein- two people who are some of the funniest humans to exist. Through little skits and unique characters, they mock the contemporary and hipster lifestyle. The humor is incredibly unique and simple, which makes it so enjoyable. The entire series is very light-hearted and fun. This super quotable series is perfect for anyone who loves to laugh at stupid humor.
3. If you’re looking for inspiring
See Ask Me Anything. This is actually a movie, not a tv show. But, it’s exceptional. It follows a girl who doesn’t know where she fits in, but she isn’t about to conform to the norms of society. She’s a little rough around the edges and kind of a rebel. She makes mistakes but isn’t afraid to admit it. She says what she thinks. She learns from her experiences and ultimately takes control of her own life- while blogging about it. It’s a great movie that demonstrates not caring about what others think, and the importance of standing your ground. And everyone needs a little inspiration sometimes.
4. If you’re looking for something interesting:
See Conspiracies. This is a docu-series is all about different conspiracy theories throughout history. They investigate everything from Nazis to aliens. There is only one season with 12 episodes, but it’s incredibly informative and fascinating. It’s well done and makes you think. From royal families to punk music, there’s bound to be something that captures your attention in this series.
5. If you’re looking for something awesome:
Watch The Santa Clarita Diet. Okay, so I suppose this could also be classified as funny, but hey, it’s a little dramatic too. Drew Barrymore is surpassing in this small series. It is very realistic- to a degree. I mean, what would you do if your mom turned into a zombie? I don’t know either! It’s a lighthearted comedy that makes you laugh and think “what if.” It’s a great show to watch when you just need a little study break.
Next time don’t spend hours roaming on Netflix- try out these shows and movies. Hopefully, you’ll be pleasantly pleased like I was.
