Namaste, everyone! It’s that time in the semester where everyone is starting to feel stressed about what is to come. Extracurriculars and schoolwork are in full swing, and to be honest, I am not really sure how I feel about that. However, there is one thing that never fails to destress me when times get tough. You guessed it…yoga! Yoga has time and time again proved to help people calm down, take a step back, and relax, all while getting a great workout in. Better yet, we have There are countless perks to taking up yoga, but I have listed my most crucial points below:
It’s an amazing stress reliever.
I know I just mentioned this, but honestly, there is nothing like getting out of a yoga class with a clear mind and relaxed muscles. Even doing a 10-minute yoga Youtube tutorial video during study breaks can do wonders, both physically and mentally. Mental health is SO important, you need to take care of your body and mind equally.
It’s also an amazing workout.
Despite the stigma that yoga is merely stretching, it is actually a killer workout. However, if you do want an excellent stretch, go for more restorative practice. If you want a good workout, go for a Vinyasa style or Blend class, which combines a few relaxing postures with more strenuous ones to really get your heart rate going.
Yogis are a great group to hang around with.
I am not just saying that because I love yoga, but those who regularly practice yoga generally tend to be kind, calm people that are great thong out with. My perfect hang out with a friend is a yoga class, then a cute coffee shop after. Talk about a great day!
