Battling the Winter Beauty Blues

By Kaylee Spahr

It seems like anytime March rolls around in Ohio we all start to get a little restless for spring. We’ve been battling the cold weather for months now, and we seem to all be craving some warmth and sunshine. But if we know anything about Ohio, we know March can be just as brutally cold as January. So I’ve rounded up some tips I’ve found helpful in keeping my beauty routine feeling fun and fresh even though spring could still be some time away.

1. Hydration is Key

Cold winter temperatures and dry skin seem to go hand in hand. The best way to combat dryness is with a daily moisturizer. Obviously, everyone’s skin is different so you might have to do some trial and error work with different products until you find the one that works best for you. Personally, I have a combination of both dry and oily skin, and I’ve found that the Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control Moisturizer works best for me.

2. Less is More

My breakouts for some reason always seem to be worse in the winter. I’m really not sure why but one trick I’ve found that helps is wearing less makeup. By either only wearing makeup once or twice a week or when I done wear makeup only wearing a little bronzer and foundation, I’ve noticed I tend to break out a lot less. Some of my favorite products for a minimal makeup look are the Benefit They’re Real Mascara and Becca Bronzer in the shades Ipanema Sun.

3. Add Some Color to Your Look

Whether you add some settle blush or a bold pink lip to your daily makeup routine, adding pops of color to your look is a fun way to spice up your winter beauty look. There are no rules that say winter can’t be just as colorful as spring!
