The word aesthetic has been popping up more and more frequently in casual conversation since about the summer of 2016. When a person appears to have an aesthetic or “brand,” its emulated through what is on their Instagram profile, clothing choices, hairstyle, Snapchat stories, and so on. It represents what you want the world to see when they look at you. I’ve felt like my life is a whirlwind, so to pass the time and maybe get everything sorted, I’ve been trying to pick my aesthetic by making mood boards.
Picking out pleasing images, similar colors, and arranging them on a digital platform is what a mood board is. You simply pick out what you like and try to achieve it in your life by getting rid of clothes that you just don’t wear anymore, changing up your hair, painting your nails a nice, happy shade, etc. I love using Pinterest and the saved image collections you can create on Instagram to reach my “lifestyle goal” or pick out my aesthetic. Here are a couple of examples of what you could maybe draw inspiration from to become your “Lifestyle Moodboard.”
