An ode to Edith Piaf

By Daphne DuMaurier

As a well-known Parisian singer, Edith Piaf was a classic representation of gritty French beauty, with her almost non-brows, cropped cut, and micro bangs. Her look reflected the glamour-less sides of Paris from which she grew up in. It is this unconventional beauty that can be seen throughout this season’s runways.

Gucci’s current Creative Director, Alessandro Michele pulls the non-brow and cropped bang to form a Piaf-esque look for Gucci model, Ellia Sophia.

The Piaf inspiration is then repeated in the Prada show on model Kaia Gerber.

As the fashion weeks fade away and we are left to determine the upcoming trends, it is clear that the brow-less and micro bang trends are edging for a spot as the top trends of 2019. Whether they will make the cut is yet to be determined, but, it is clear that Edith Piaf’s influence still holds out as an unforgettable and unusual beauty.
