Five ways to style leopard print for fall

By Hannah Straub

This fall, according to many A-list celebrities including Bella Hadid, Miley Cyrus, and even Lady Gaga, leopard print is the new black. Starting as a hot summer trend, this feisty print has pranced its way right into fall, being spotted everywhere from shoes to bags to coats. During New York Fashion Week it was featured in many designer’s collections, including Victoria Beckham and Balenciaga.  It’s a print that has had spiking popularity in the 70’s and 80s’ and usually being associated with rock-stars or hard-hitters, but not in a bad way. It has now become a staple in any closet especially for autumn/winter 2018.

We’ve been seeing it in silky shift styles, with other outfits looking more structured and fitted. And we can’t forget the booties! It is a 2018 fad that can be enjoyed by everyone and hopefully help add some sass into any every-day outfit. Here are a few different ways to style this print in order to make your look a little more wild!

  1. The Maxi/Midi Dress

This could be used as either a bold office look or something you put together for a night out. If you want to go more business-y but still want to make a statement, try out this jungle-inspired print in the form of a midi or maxi dress. Either pair it with some neutral heels to add to the professionalism, or slip on some black booties to carry it from day to night. Don’t accessorize too much though, you wouldn’t want to take anything away from the vibrant vibe this print puts out.

2. With a Crisp White T-shirt

If you want to switch it to more of a day look, you can tone down the craziness of the print with the crispness of a plain white t-shirt– something that almost anyone has in their wardrobe. My favorite way to wear it would be with either some white sneakers or even some nude block heels to add to the chicness of the outfit. You could accessorize with some gold layered necklaces or even some gold statement earrings.

3. The Coat

A fur coat on its own is already quite glamorous and adding the print really adds to the 3-dimensional feel of this look. You could wear it with anything from a ball gown to a simple cocktail dress and could also give your all-black look a bit of a punch by wearing it with a sleek hairstyle and dark sunglasses.

4. Fitted Pants

There is something very classic about a printed pant and a structured top, much like the sweater Kate Gerber is rocking in the photo above. Paired with black combat boots or heels ups the glam factor by a lot, and you could even pair it with a moto leather jacket if you want to go retro. Cue the Grease soundtrack!

5.  And we can’t forget the Shoes!

As shown in the picture above, Gigi Hadid is rocking this trendy print in the form of a low bootie. I’ve seen many other celebs rocking leopard heels or even the classic mule style. They could be great for dressing up classic work styles, like black slacks and white collared shirts with a bold red lip. Or they could even be worn paired with more casual wear, with jeans or even palazzo pants with a neutral top.
